May Is Osteoporosis Awareness Month

By Lisa Beresnyak, BA, Integrative Health Coach

Osteoporosis: It is considered the “silent killer” because many people do not know they have bone loss until it is too late. The term osteoporosis means “porous bone.” Actually, under a microscope, healthy bone looks like a honeycomb; but, when osteoporosis occurs, the holes and spaces are much larger than they are in healthy bone. Osteoporotic bones have lost density and mass and this weakens them, making them more susceptible to breaking.

Reversing Osteoporosis

We typically start losing bone density at age 30—a gradual process that can result in osteoporosis. The good news is that there are safe and natural alternatives to prevent bone loss and reverse bone loss naturally and with amazing results.

The process of reversing of osteoporosis, osteopenia, and bone loss without drugs has been understood by medical science for years. Dr. John Jaquish and Dr. Bazil Hunte published two peer-reviewed studies in 2015 demonstrating the effectiveness of this safe technology in allowing you to achieve amazing results with minimal effort. This “osteogenic loading” system is an innovative technology that will be coming to the Raleigh-Durham area this spring at one of two OsteoStrong® locations.

This proprietary Spectrum System allows members at almost any age to increase bone density, improve muscle strength, and improve balance. With the Spectrum System, people have been experiencing rapid improvements in their skeletal system and their health. A 2015 meta-analysis (conducted by the United Kingdom’s National Health Services in London) combined 152 peer-reviewed studies, comparing the results of a number of different approaches to change bone density, including OsteoStrong. (see chart A). The results are a striking testimonial on the effectiveness of this new technology.

Not only does this osteogenic loading increase skeletal strength and bone density, but it also increases physical strength, decreases joint and back pain, and improves fracture prevention, balance, and posture. Another added benefit revealed in peer-reviewed clinical studies was the effects of osteogenic loading on people with pre-type 2 diabetes (see chart B). The osteogenic loading outperformed every other modality, and it strongly suggests that new, healthy tissue is being restored in the muscle, which aids the body in processing blood glucose.

For patients seeking alternatives and other options to healing, this strengthening of the entire musculoskeletal chain at the cellular level is key. There are more studies to be done as there have been claims that this osteogenic loading has been beneficial for those with fibromyalgia, Parkinson’s, and cancer patients recovering from chemotherapy.

As a Health Coach and Sessions Coach at OsteoStrong, I find these results to be wonderful news. My mission as a Coach is to enable someone to live a better quality of life and increase their longevity—and I look for safe, natural options to achieve these goals. OsteoStrong offers just such an option—a drug-free, effective way to prevent and reverse bone loss.

Osteogenic Loading:
How It Works

OsteoStrong is not a gym, diet, pharmaceutical, or health supplement. It’s a system that works for people at all ages and levels of activity to promote skeletal strength. The process is called osteogenic loading.

Eric Bernier, Sessions Coach and Business Development Manager at OsteoStrong, working with Molly Leavitt, DC, on the spectrum circuit designed for the lower body.

In a session, the Session Coach assists the member to engage in four self-loading positions—Upper Body, Lower Body, Postural, and Core Osteogenic Loading—that stimulate the body’s major muscles and bones. The goal is to push or pull as hard as you comfortably can. The level of stimulus required to trigger the growth of healthy bone tissues is possible only through this patented equipment exclusive to OsteoStrong. It uses a very specialized, technician-monitored system designed to trigger an individual’s own natural adaptive responses to grow new, healthy tissue without soreness, and without sweat. It is made possible by something called “impact emulation.” This process takes about 15 minutes and includes four separate devices that have been refined in their biomechanical positioning, optimal for impact emulation.

OsteoStrong in the Triangle

The first two of our five OsteoStrong locations open this spring in Durham (April 3) and Raleigh (May 22). We look forward to partnering with local providers, hospitals, integrative care providers, radiologists, gyms, and other health venues to use this technology to create options for healing and improved quality of life.
